Training Overview

Our Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) training program equips you with the critical knowledge and practical experience needed to operate MEWPs safely and efficiently.

Why is MEWP training required?

Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires operators of “elevating work platforms” to be deemed competent to ensure workplace safety. The platforms include boom lifts (Group B) and scissor lifts/other devices (Group A) and were previously commonly referred to as “aerial work/elevating platforms”. Employers are responsible for verifying this competence by providing appropriate training, knowledge, and experience before assigning such work. This makes certification not just a skill enhancement but a workplace standard.

 MEWP training is essential for multiple reasons- least of which because it ensures improved compliance with OHSA regulations and CSA standards. Undergoing relevant training promotes workplace safety by reducing the risk of accidents and injuries and can even improve the operational efficiency of a business through enhancing worker skills. Applicable regulations for MEWP training include Section 147 of O. Reg. 213/91 (Construction Projects), and Section 51 of O. Reg. 851 (Industrial Establishments). By meeting these standards, this certification ensures safety and compliance across industries.

• Practice: Participate in hands-on training and a practical evaluation at your workplace or our training facility.
