Climate Agri-Solutions Fund: Supporting Farmers with Climate-Friendly Practices
With up to $100,000 available per farm, the Climate Agri-Solutions Fund (CAF) is giving producers in BC and the Yukon the support they need to build healthier soils, reduce emissions, and strengthen biodiversity.

Farmers in British Columbia and the Yukon are on the frontlines of climate change. Shifting weather patterns, changing soil conditions, and the push toward sustainability mean that agriculture is evolving faster than ever. To support producers through this transition, the Climate Agri-Solutions Fund (CAF) is offering a major opportunity: up to $100,000 in cost-shared funding for farms ready to adopt or expand climate-friendly practices.
This funding can make the difference between “someday” and “today” when it comes to implementing improvements that benefit both the farm and the environment.
Investing in Resilient Farms
The CAF program focuses on three core practices with proven environmental and operational benefits:
-
Nitrogen Management: Smarter fertilizer use reduces emissions and improves soil health. This could include soil testing, split applications, or shifting fertilizer use to spring.
-
Cover Cropping: Protecting and enriching the soil with cover crops not only prevents erosion but also enhances biodiversity and fertility.
-
Rotational Grazing: Building infrastructure and improving pastures for rotational grazing can keep livestock healthier while improving land stewardship.
By supporting both new adoption and the expansion of practices to new areas of the farm, CAF ensures that more acres can benefit from these sustainable methods.
The Financial Advantage
One of the most attractive features of CAF is its generous cost-share model. The program covers 85% of eligible project costs, with farmers responsible for only 15%. This means a $20,000 improvement could cost the farm just $3,000 out of pocket.
Each farm can access up to $100,000 over the life of the program (2022–2028), including any amounts received through the earlier BCCAF program. Even better, some expenses going back to April 1, 2025 may qualify retroactively.
But timing matters, approved projects must be completed within four months and no later than January 30, 2026.
Building a Sustainable Future
Programs like CAF reflect a growing recognition that sustainable agriculture is not just about protecting the environment, it’s about creating more resilient, productive farms. By adopting practices that improve soil structure, increase biodiversity, and cut greenhouse gas emissions, producers are building systems that will support both profitability and sustainability in the years to come.
