The Strengthening the Canadian Supply Chain Program, delivered by Protein Industries Canada, supports Canadian agrifood and food processing businesses looking to innovate, scale, and strengthen domestic supply chains.

Rising demand and trade challenges are driving the need for stronger, Canadian-grown food systems.

This program helps businesses:

  • Reduce reliance on international supply chains
  • Strengthen Canadian food production
  • Accelerate commercialization and innovation
  • Stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market

Funding Highlights

  • Up to 75% of eligible project costs covered
  • Funding range: $37,500 to $150,000
  • Project size: $50,000 to $200,000 total eligible costs
  • Project timelines of up to 12 months

Eligible Projects

Projects must focus on Canadian-grown crops such as wheat, oats, barley, peas, soy, or emerging ingredients like hemp or lupin.

Eligible activities may include:

  • Reformulating products using Canadian-grown ingredients
  • Scaling up production of domestically produced food products
  • Commercializing Canadian-made ingredients for manufacturers

Who Can Apply

  • Canadian-owned businesses
  • Minimum $100,000 in annual sales
  • Priority given to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

Application Timeline

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Projects must be completed within 12 months of approval.
